Now that I use the program to get real modem speeds, I see my
internal modem usually gets 24000 or 26400. I believe it's rated
for 33.6, this is the PII/266 w/4GB notebook. That's based only on
my home line, and I have never tried another modem on it.
Most of my travels currently take me to a hotel where the phone
lines are terrible. There's a significant hum noticeable when
using the phone for a voice call. If I do upgrade the drivers,
what will happen with those bad phone lines?
Should I download and apply any upgrades to this? I recall some
reports of upgraded drivers that slowed down the modem!
Thanks!
andrew
