There are several things to say here:
1. Almost EVERYONE sells from the SAME warehouse.. there are a few, like
Ingram, Marisel, Tek Data, et al.,
2. SOME online el-cheapo vendors add "fees" that drive the price up..
3. others make their $$ by having traffic on their web sites and selling
advertising.. i.e. they sell ads, not hardware..
4. SOME will tell you they have the hardware, but in reality, they don't..
there is such a thing as "phantom stock"..
yes, i sell new thinkpads too, and for the $$ at risk $2k to $5k for a profit
of $50 or $100 there is little incentive unless i personally know the buyer
or there are other considerations which make the transaction profitable..
additionally, while everyone wants the lowest price, there are other
considerations like support and hand holding and more that make the lowest
price not necessarily the best price.. so when you are bottom fishing for the
best price you're giving up something for that low price..
so when you get your lowest price, let me know what it is and I may be able
to meet it or beat it.. and STILL earn $50 or $100 on the transaction...
