Ok, the time I've had troubles with CD-ROM drives _not_ reading CD-
Rs, it has been because the CD Drive trying to do the reading either:
A: Has a dirty lens. The CD-Rs are apparently not as bight or
something as a regular CD, so get a lens cleaner. Can't hurt it
anyhow.
b: Is a slightly older Drive and is slower.
If the drive you are trying to read the disk on is slower than the
speed the CDR disk was recorded at, then sometimes the disk can't be
read. I've had big problems with CD-Rs recorded at 4x not playing on
2x CD-ROM drives. The solution I've found is to be sure and record
CDs you're going to use on your older drive at 1x speed.
So, don't panic _yet_. If you CD-ROM drive is reading normal
CDs fine, then it's probably not dieing.
