Agree to your opinion. As far as I can see CE can do probably more
than PalmOS. That's true especially for EPOC (Psion), but for a
handheld I'd say that's a drawback. Just imagin to jot down a note at
the phone. To do that you've to start up something like Word, click
through menus open this and that... I wouldn't like that. I also don't
want to write books on a PDA. (There's no LaTeX for PalmOS ;)

The main feature of PalmOS versus all the ohters is: It's simple.
Reduced to what one needs. Main feature of all apps is to implement
the fuctions you need on a handheld and not to size down some big
desktop app. E.g. if I want to write a mail, I need to insert an
address, a subject and the text itself. I don't want to click through
menues like in Outlook, I don't need buttonbars etc. I need »Send« and
»Read« as buttons and probably »Delete«. That's it.

The other point I'd think about is connection to the desktop. As far
as I can see CE only syncs with Windows. I think that's a limitation I
don't want. I mean I've to sync with my PC but of course I'm not
running Windows. Look for a PDA that does that and you're at the Pilot
;)

The main points I think one should look at are:

- Are the apps available I'll need. That is simply: can I do my work.
I'd rather like a speicalized app on an PDA than a big one which can
do anything but is simply to complex.

- Are these apps easy to use. For just writing down a phone number I
don't want to fiddle arrount with a big database. One button and one
click for »new« should be enough

- Are the functions easily available. No CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-F12...

- How long does it work on batteries. (This point kicks out all that
colour stuff which I think is simply useless)

> Okay, this is my opinion... I have a my Palm with me all the time and
use

That's the point. A PDA must be available all the time so it must fit
in the shirt-pocket.

desktop/laptop, but a

I think that's the main point. One don't want to replace the
laptop/desktop cause than the PDA is either to big or one can't use it
easily. As I allways say it's useless if I ever search for a paper
insteand of pulling out the PDA.

Support for WorkPad is hanled by 3COM. At least here in europe. As far
as I can see the only diffrence is the nice black desing with the
little blue IBM in the upper left.
