Just got an HP DeskJet 340 with the IrDA port on it. Using the
parallel port and drivers that came with NT4 it works fine.
Using the IrDA port it also works, but at a positively glacial
speed...like 10 minutes a page.

I've checked and updated all drivers and twiddled all settings in
the "Ports" control panel for the infra-red port on the thinkpad,
put the printer transmitter/receiver right next to the thinkpad
transmitter/receiver to no avail.

I've got no other IrDA devices for comparison or debugging. IBM
tech support was friendly but thinks it is an HP problem. I have
not yet managed to talk to a real person at HP...only followed
telephone menu mazes (on a toll call no less!) that end
suggesting their web site or a 900 tech support number. Pft!
