Make a startup disk for windows from your existing Win98 system. This can be
done by going to
Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > and chose the Startup Disk Tab.
Then make sure Fdisk is on the floppy it creates. If not copy it from the
c:\windows\command directory.
(assuming you have a vanilla install of Win98)
Boot the system with the floppy and look at the structure of your drive. You
originally posted that you received
the system with a 2 gig c: and 2 gig D:. That implies to me that the
previous owner made a 1 gig partition for something and it is either not
formatted or from another OS. It may be interferring with the recovery CD if
it was created at the start of the HD as the recovery CD expects to find the
C: fat drive first.
If fdisk verifies this then delete all the partitions and create a 2 gig fat
partition first and the rest (3 gigs) fat32 or fat16 as your
D: drive.
IF THIS does not work I would let Easy Serve take of....
