The fact that your 385XD actually stays at the screen saying it's safe
to turn your computer off may mean that something is wrong with the
power management software/hardware interface. Most recent laptops can be
switched off by Windows upon shutdown. My 560X does that. Perhaps
someone else on the list can indicate if being unable to shut down via
software is normal for the 385XD.
