This is not as off topic as it may appear, so please bear with me.
Last year I bought a Thinkpad 385XD of machine type 2635 LEU. IBM has
replaced the mother board twice, and since the first replacement the
computer locks up tight whenever it goes into suspend mode. IBM
HelpCentre has told me that they can't help me any more unless I use
the recovery CD, thus wiping out all my OS/2 stuff. I am more inclined
to reinstall OS/2, and even if I do use the recovery CD I will still
want to install OS/2.
The Think pad configuration file now shows that the machine type is
2635 EAU. It also shows the bios is IFET17WW, which according to the
readme file is the bios for a Pentium(2), whereas the computer I bought
was a Pentium 233 with MMX.
Is this a significant difference? If I reinstall OS/2 what drivers
should I be looking for? (ie, for a 385XD or some other model). Could
this difference in machine types have anything to do with why it locks
up on suspend?
