Hi,
today I have bought the Adaptec AHA1480A Ultra SCSI Adapter for my TP600
(Pentium 233 MMX). Unfortunately, the card works neither in Linux nor in
Windows. I assume that it is important to mention that the AHA1480A is a
CardBus card.
In Windows 95, the PC-Card monitor program does not recognize the card in
any way, although if I remove the card, the machine beeps twice, as
usually, when I remove a card. Thus, I reinstalled CardWorks in the hope
of getting a bit more information than that. However, recognizing the card
went no further than the "Awaiting PNP Information" message for the
respective slot.
Upon insertion of the card, Linux writes the following to the
/var/log/messages file:
Jun 10 15:13:04 leon cardmgr[216]: initializing socket 1
Jun 10 15:13:04 leon cardmgr[216]: unsupported card in socket 1
Jun 10 15:13:04 leon cardmgr[216]: no product info available
Now the usual question: Does anybody have experience with that particular
card in a TP600, either Windows or (preferably) Linux? I use Linux 2.2.9
accompanied by the PCMCIA Services 3.0.9. Both are, to my knowledge, the
most up to date versions.
Any hints welcome, of course!
Thanks in advance,
Alexander
