3 months ago I purchased a 6.4 gig IBM drive from Bill Morrow. I've
been trying to install operating systems off and on since then, in
between getting work done with my old drive. What I'm trying to do is
make the first gig games+windows95, then a logical partition with 2
gigs for warp and 3.4 gigs for linux. I'm trying to use boot manager,
but I don't think that is the issue. When I load Linux (RH5.2 or 6.0)
I get an error at the end saying it can't install boot loader. Is
this that 1024 cylindar issue? I installed the bios that came with
the new drive, and I can access the entire drive with not probs in the
ultra-super-mega-slim-bay. Any tips?
You can only boot from the first 1 GB of the drive. I'm not sure if
that's a Lilo limitation or something more inherent. Basically you
should make your first two partitions (the boot partitions for Warp
and Linux) fit in the first 1 GB. Put the rest of your data into
additional partitions.
