I once tried recoating the worn trackpoint tips with the same stuff as is used
to coat the handles of tools.. (pliars, screwdrivers and the like)..
it worked, but not so well.. insufficient non-skid properties..
i have not done it since, since i have sufficient spares to last into the next
millenia.. :-)
and after that... !! ??
