IF you want to install Win9x, in cases like this, I either:
A. Use a bullet parallel port drive that holds all the various OSR releases
of Win9x
B. Copy the win9x directory via laplink (parallel).
C. Use a terminal program and link the machines via serial (serial).
If you are installing OSR_0-2 (Win95, Win95a, Win95b), the files are
relatively
small. You can safely delete the 25meg CIS monstrosity install file and bring
your OSR_2 (revB) down to a comparable size.
If you need to install Win98, do the same procedure, but goto bed after
starting the procedure, because your systems will be occupied for awhile. :)
If you still require a MS-DOS based machine that requires access to Win9x/NT
resources:
For older machines that need access to Windows network resources but still
mandate pre Win9x environment, I install Windows for WorkGroups 3.11. It is
able to access all Windows resources, is a lot smaller and was the last gasp
for Windows 3.x with decent networking (precursor to Win9x). You can map and
use printers and drives on Win9x and NT machines. I have a TP755c that runs
MSDOS and WfWG 3.11, and it uses a 3c589d combo adapter. It works perfect.
