What do you mean by "very large" - do you have a larger virtual desktop
than the actual resolution ? You can define your virtual screen in
XF86Config.

If you have defined different resolutions in your XF86Config, you
toggle the resolution by pressing CTRL+ALT+Plus/Minus on the numeric
keypad, resp.

If you want a working Config file for the 560 (Trident Chipset) I can
email you mine but I do not want to post it to the list. I have X running
smoothly at 800x600, the same as in Windows.
With some versions of XFree86 there are some troubles.
