you might try a later version of faxworks, as supplied on the 760 series machines..

i tried winfax 8 and the sound quality was terrible.. AND i had to get a PCMCIA voice/fax/data
modem because the 701 modem was not supported by winfax 8..

now i use one 701C as an answering machine and it works fine.. BUT i also use win 3.1 (the original
preload).. ! :-)
it works just fine and its fairly fast.. well, fast enough..!
