FWIW,
Both Word and Photoshop are subject to the limits designed into Windblows
(or left over from DOS, depending upon how you want to view it). IOW, if
either one runs out of system resources, more ram will not prevent system
crashes (assuming you are using 64mb to start with).
With more ram Word will scroll through a document loaded with graphics
faster, but that was the only difference I saw when a machine was pushed
up to 128mb. It didn't seem to make a difference to Photoshop either. And
it didn't help Corel either.
If you are doing heavy-duty graphics intensive publishing, don't use a
word processor. Framemaker is one appropriate solution. I haven't looked
at Ventura in years, so I can't comment on it.
