I'd like to have my subscription changed to digest form. Here's why. I am the
owner of a butterfly 701c, and normally wait with bated breath any news
regarding the 701. However, I think that we have seen a classic example of
overkill regarding the CPU upgrade. Mine has the 486/75 processor, and I
never have felt that it's speed was any sort of problem, even though my
desktop is about 6 times faster. So what? The butterfly is still a lot faster
than my first "portable" a luggable Sharp 8086 that could create a hernia by
carrying it. Have we forgotten that additional speed can be obtained by
increasing the 701's memory to the maximum of 40 gb., and also by increasing
the size of the hard drive? (Not by a whole lot, I agree) but again, so what?
What road race are we entering with a 4 lb. computer? Don't forget, the 701
is at least four years old. I respectfully think that it's time to put this
whole subject to bed and in perspective.
