        Fear no more.

All the data in the D: drive is still there (assumed that
you did not format the whole drive). There are several
data recovery software packages outthere that will allow
you to recover data from the drive. I personally used the
program called Lost&Found. The latest version is 1.01.
It worked well for me. My last episode was to extract data
out of an 18GB drive. I got all the data that I needed.
It took a while though because the program had to scan for
data sector by sector. That how Lost&Found operates.
This way the program will even allow you to extract data
        out of original C: drive.

As long as the drive is still spinning you still have a chance
of recovering your data. If you decide to give Lost&Found a try,
please, please, read the manual carefully. Don't attempt to
do anything further to the drive unless you are comfortable working
        with computers.

If the original drive is a big drive with big partitions, it is
a good idea to have a comparable size drive hook up to the
machine so that you can just copy the data over instead of
        using tons of floppy disks.

I am in no way affiliated with the producer of Lost&Found.
        Just a customer.

Hope that helps and good luck.
