This may just be superstition, but I think I've found that if you move the
pointer all the way into the absolute corner toward which it is moving, so
that it can't go any farther in either direction, and then you leave the
pointer there (with your fingers off) for about 5 seconds, the pointer
resets itself and will again be centered when you use it again.
This is how I deal with my 760C, anyway, and it seems to work.
