Wow.... that is paranoia.... :) It is true SoftDVD will allow you
to play DVDs without an Enhanced Video card, but....

Decompresses DVD MPEG video on the fly and offers additional auxilary ports
(Video out, etc...). The 770ED is a case example of why users should use
the TP770 EVA. Even on my X and Z's here, the SoftDVD doesn't cut the
mustard and you do drop frames and suffer from other quirky things. Next
to a lesser powered ED, it whomped our Xs and Zs.... The
adapter makes play back silky smooth with no anomalies. If you have
a 770/E get one. I thought that was a terrible move on IBMs part to not
include them for later models. They are worth the price and Carlos's prices
always
come out much less than new units.
You need a seperate unit for playback in the 770X.
