As expected, prices on Thinkpad memory upgrades
(770/600 series), are on the way UP. Crucial's
128meg upgrade has SHOT up to $315.00. As
for Kingston, I checked www.shopper.com, and
the lowest listed was 185.00. I checked the
first *4* sites on there, and when taken
to their web sites, the price is $255.00
for the lowest and/or they don't have them
in stock. One company said in 1-2 weeks with
a price of $231.00. I called their voice #
to verify the product, and their response was,
"Product price may change without notice and/or
product may be definitely out of stock." (Talk
about protecting one's buttocks in these memory
intensive trying times).

NECX (my favorite source, as they are usually REAL
competitive with excellent service), is obviously
feeling the pinch. Their modules have gone from
a low of 182.95 all the way up to $594.00....sheesh,
and they do a heavy volume. CDW is holding rock
steady at $300.00 for the same module (I'm picking
big, mail order companies I've dealt with and trust
and do not consider them, "fly by night," operations).

18 of the 24 companies listed on shopper.com have
their modules priced closed to $300 and over.
