Keith, I have no experience with ThinkPad batteries, but lots of flight
time with batteries in the electronics field, especially radios.

There are always a lot of aftermarket places one can go to for things
like batteries, but with few exceptions the original manufacturer has
always been the best place to get supplies from.

I see no reason why the laptop market would be any exception. Good
batteries always cost more than marginal ones, and usually have a
better warrenty.

I'd like to find a cheap source of i Series batteries myself, but I've
never seen a place that looked as good as IBMs units are. Batteries
are one of those things which are pretty easy to build but not so easy
to do really well, at least in my 25 years experience with them.
