I'm trying to install a 16MB "credit card" memory card into a 755CV, which
has 8MB onboard. The card is a Kingston KTM-750/16. Halfway through
booting Windows I get a blue screen message: Memory parity error detected;
system halted.
It was suggested to me to disable parity checking by going into setup,
clicking memory, then disable parity checking. In that case I get these
messages:
"himem.sys has detected unreliable xms memory at address 00c20000. xms
driver not installed.
to continue starting your computer, press enter"
Next comes:
"himem.sys is missing
make sure that the file is in your windows directory"
Then:
"Windows has stopped. Press ctrl alt delete to restart your computer."
Then:
"While initializing device VREDIR:
windows protection error. you need to restart your computer."
Removed Kingston card, rebooted, everything back to normal.
Any ideas?
