I doubt very much that you can swap the CPUs, even if you're handy with
a soldering iron. From what I understand the mobile (Tillamook) 233mmx
processors look similar to photographic film - they're very thin, and
probably very fragile. They are soldered on to the motherboard. I think
the some 560e's had a non-Tillamook CPU, so you can't replace the
chip-type 166 with a film-type 233. Even if both have Tillamook CPUs, I
doubt the removal can be done by hand. The only way *some* laptops (like
Transmonde) can swap the CPU is when it comes from Intel in the form of
a Intel Mobile Module that includes the CPU and accompanying controller
chips. These were not used in 560 machines because they are too thick
for the form factor. My 233mmx 560x has no fan. The noisiest element is
the hard drive.

Bill Morrow can elaborate/correct me on the above, but if I were you I'd
save my money for more RAM for system performance, or for a new laptop
if it's computational speed you're after. The Celeron-based machines are
fast and relatively affordable.
