I contacted one big IBM-Dealer here in germany, which is also specialized in
Thinkpads and asked him what's going on with the TP 770 models.
He told me that the 770 models will now be sold out and should then be no
longer available. Instead of the 770 model series there will be next year a
new highend Thinkpad model line, which will have a different model number
(since IBMs model number range always stops at the "Z") according to the
person I spoke with.
If the above statements for the sell out are correct, then people interested
in a 770X/Z should take a look to get one for a nicer price.
