I have an IBM TP 600 notebook. I also have an unused 5GB 3/4 inch
high hard drive, which I'd like to connect to my notebook. My 600
has a port for an external diskette (floppy) or CDROM drive.

How fast is this port? I'm hoping that it might be faster than
the USB port or using a PC Card. I'm also hoping that this would
be more OS-independent, since I mostly use Linux.

Can I somehow connect my 5GB drive to this port? The drive is too
hi to fit in the enclosure that the diskette or CDROM drive would
slide into. Where would I get an appropriate holder? I've
browsed all the relevant web sites I can find w/o success.

Thanks for your help.
