FWIW, MICROSOFT Encarta on CD pales in comparison to their version on DVD.

Subject: Thinkpad i Series DVD Player Question
I'm looking to purchase a new Thinkpad i Series notebook, some of which come
with DVD players. I have no reason at present to use a DVD player and was
wondering if there was any reason to avoid purchasing a machine with a DVD
as opposed to a CD ROM player. Do the DVD drives used in the Thinkpads ever
have any problems reading CD ROMs? We use a lot of CD ROMs, primarily
reference materials and childrens' software.
