(sorry about the HTML in the other post, it slipped out)
Hi there,
I thought I'd fill in a few things I had missed. I also called IBM back
and spoke to them on this matter:
I had sent my Thinkpad 760ED into ezserve for replacement of a mainboard. It
started giving me 163, and 173 errors, not accepting my Supervisor
passwd(and prompting for it at bootup, which it shouldn't have been), and in
the end the video was totaly corrupted. As mentioned above they replaced the
mainboard along with the CMOS battery which they said fixed it. Well I sent
it in with a HDD password on it, which I could *not* diclose due to the
nature of my job(it was backed up BTW though).
Well I recieved my laptop back, but not it won't accept my HDD password! I
tried everything possible, but it won't take it. I raise my right hand and
swear that the password entered was what it was before I sent it in. I
thought maybe the mainboard being replaced had something to do with it so I
called IBM back. Appearently the system BIOS does not store and HDD passwd
data. And they won't replace the HDD. I sent the harddrive in working, and
now I'm still sitting here with a 'dead' system. If you ask me, if it wasn't
accepting my Supervisor, and now not the HDD, then there's some other issue
wrong.
Can anyone advise me as to what to do next? I can't afford to buy another
HDD right now and this downtime is going to hurt...Anyone? I would consider
sending the drive to anyone who thinks they can help(an honorable & frequent
member of the list though). I understand how IBM may think that I simply
forgot it, am using CAPS, or something else simple, but that's not the
case...
Thanks,
-Jamie
