Thats probably exactly what happened. Unfortunately, now that one of those
screws has been overtightened and eased up on, you may well have a troublesome
spot there, in that the screw may get more loose, and things may stop working
once again. If you can, I would find out what part number those screws are,
and get a new set of them. Even if they aren't the "compression" type of
screw meant to be used once, they can deform and become tiresome to deal with.
