I do not have any experience with the speed of the processor involved
but in general I would stay away from Parallel units and go with a
SCSI based system using PCMCIA. I would check around on the net
like doing a search on http://www.deja.com for postings or the
various web pages on CD-R to get a feel for system requirements.
The major requirement for successful CD-R burning is getting the
data to the drive when it wants it. An underrun (or a dry pipe)
is fatal and results in a coaster. I doubt Parallel has a fast
enough transfer rate to give good results.
Another consideration is support by the various CD burning programs.
SCSI CD-R drives have been around longest and are widely supported.
IDE ones are now getting wide support. USB and Parallel ones are not
widely supported.
You may be able to use a P75 for burning with some changes to
the system setup like not running any other programs (even background
ones). I know of one fellow that would not even touch the mouse
or the keyboard for fear of making a coaster. From the web pages
I have seen some of the settings you need to make are in the
"if you have problems see if this works" type solution. Also the
compromises in laptop design (like lack of L2 cache) may require
a faster system than what would work on a desktop.

on a TPad 755CX with 40Mb Ram P75 2Gb HDD (800Mb spare) under W95C ??
Would it be very slow or require a larger HDD cache than I have spare?
