Take the following with a large grain of salt given how wrong I was about the
Thinkpad mike inputs! :-)
But my 760XL exhibited this same behavior (stone cold dead!) and it turned out
to be a dead CMOS battery. I've also just corrected this same condition in my
brother in law's TP750C with the installation of a new CMOS battery.
What happens if you start the unit with the battery and hard drive out and enter
EZSetup? Correct date and time shown?
The batteries are available from IBM for approx. $17 IIRC.
