There are no linux drivers for the IBM Mwave modem thats included in the
600e or the 770ed. There is a linux driver for the lucent modem thats
included in the tp240 and the tp600x. The mwave and lucent modems are
completely different :)
The lucent driver can be downloaded from linmodems.org and has worked well
for me the times I've used it in my 240
