I've been thinking about this today while working. At first I was
thinking that it might be the cable, but if it were, why would a
video reset from LCD to external clear it? I'm thinking that its
more like a power supply problem for the background light, or in
the control logic that routes the video signal. If it were a cabling
problem I don't think you could always fix it by software commands.
