LOL
only a few questions huh ? (grin)
YES remove all and any Win95 stuff as suggested .
You do not need any of it .
If you run the setup from the \cabs dir on the HD you do not need to edit
the registery .
On the other hand, if you know all about that ...why am I helping you ?
(grin)
the second one is tough
Clean install and keep registery settings .
Hmmm
Pick one .
The registery is part of the problem , you can kill most /all of the
\windows dir .
do an new win 98 install and bring back the registry .
BUT you have also brought back your problems ......maybe .
Last week there was some discussion about cleaning the registery .
UGH ...
Do you really need a fresh install ???
Try the sytem as is .
Then remove files in the \windows dir that are older .
These are a leftover from the win95 days .
BTW what does IBM say about Win98 and the TP 380 ?
They have a FAQ on the subject buried somewhere in IBM's Web.
Also look into Hibernate and Fat32 .
If hibernation is not important just convert to Fat32 and gain a lot of
space .
If hibernation is important ....find out .
Re starting fresh :
Find out if you actually need to .
If you do
See what IBM says ..re Win98
The Win98 boot disk is all you need to get started .
Fdisk / format /
copy Cabs etc.......
PS look into win98lite !!!

You can do this and it has been done .
And people have totally mucked things up ;-}
