You could put two video cards in your desktop, a digital card for the LCD
and an analog card for the CRT. Or take that option on the G400 and just
make sure it matches up with the LCD.

There actually is a standard for digital video output to LCD panels, but it
is fairly new.

BTW, if text really looked bad on the LCD, it's possible that it was just
out of adjustment. There's a clock sync adjustment on the LCD, and if it is
out of whack everything will look terrible.
