What This Diskette Does
-----------------------
This Firmware Update Utility Diskette updates the CD-ROM Drive firmware
stored in the CD-ROM Drive to fix problems, add new functions, or expand
functions as noted below.
The supported models are as follows.
- ThinkPad i Series 1400
- ThinkPad 570
- ThinkPad 380X, 380Z
- ThinkPad 390, 390E, 390X, i Series 1700
- ThinkPad 600, 600E
- ThinkPad 770, 770E, 770X, 770Z
Note : This utility checks the version of drive firmware automatically
whether the firmware should be updated or not.
To determine if you should update the drive firmware, please refer to the
"Summary of Change" section.
To update the drive firmware, please refer to the "Updating Drive
Firmware"
section.

Updating Drive Firmware
-----------------------
Notes:
- You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the drive
firmware.
1. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
2. Insert the Firmware Update Utility into the diskette drive
and turn on the computer.
3. Press '1' key to view the README file.
Press '2' key to start firmware update process. Follow the
instruction on screen to proceed with update.
4. When update is complete, power-off and power-on the computer
for the update to become effective.
Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update
has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER
WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE DIRVE
MAY BECOME DAMAGED.
