Also, does anyone here use ICQ? If so, give me your ID number if you can
help talk me through some of this stuff.
Hi Everyone,
STILL having problems with my 755c. I bought it used on Friday. Since
the unit is so new to me, (my first IBM Thinkpad), I do not know if the
problems are software or hard ware or something else. Main problems I am
having are listed below.
1) I got the battery fully charged (or so it seems, 10-20 hours charge
time), and When I turn on the unit, I get a quick flash of light. No
disk activity, just a quick half second flash of white light on the
screen.
At this point, I do not know if it is a problem with the battery, or
something dead or shorted out inside of my Thinkpad (755c) Would you
happen to have ANY ideas?? I bought the unit used, with the only means
of powering it when I bought it was the docking station it came with.
2) do not have a powersuply for the unit, so I must run it from the
docking station. I installed drivers for the cd-rom (internal in doc),
and was able to change directories to the D drive (cd) and copy files
>from my CD drive to my hard disk drive.
I put in my windows 95 disk and typed setup, nothing happened. The
system locked, I had to turn it off, then back on. I even tried to copy
the windows 95 directory to my HDD, then run setup, same thing happened,
I typed setup, unit locked.
I finally ended up installing my backpack external cd-rom and installing
my windows 95 from it, which installed fine. Once I got windows 95
going, the internal cd-rom drive showed up fine, but does not work fine.
I am able to view all of the files, but when I click on them and try to
run them (.exe type), I get the message, "A DEVICE ATTACHED TO THE
SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING." ERROR.
What can I do about this?????
Is it a software thing??
I just do not know what to do about it, as I have allready installed
windows 95 twice, and formatted twice. Please let me know ASAP if you
can HELP!!
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
