Don't you have an external floppy connector on the back of your unit?
[many thinkpads do, that's why I'm asking]

   From right to left I have power, serial, printer, monitor, docking port
with a unknown port (kinda looks like a USB) and a infared port. If the
unknown port is for a external floppy, can I use the one that swaps out
with the cd?
