I'm surprised someone else hasn't responded yet - they are likely still
looking for the reference doc on the IBM site that talks about this, as I
was and still haven't put up with it.

At any rate, I have used TP's for some time now, 755, 380, and now a 570.
Without an adapter in each of those systems a regular microphone will not
work. I ordered the 3rd party component for it. I have no idea why they
don't use a standard input.

Incidentally, when you pull the mic jack out half way, you may think it is
working but it is merely picking up the onboard mic.

I'll post the reference if and when I locate it.

Birger,

2 good ideas, but neither worked! I remember
clicking the box to enable "401" months ago,
but it never changed anything. Disabling it
again doesn't seemed to have helped either.

Also, no signal in into MS Sound Recorder
application unless I put the plug partially out
as described below.

Any other ideas?

Mark
