IBM is being forced to adopt the standards that most of the rest of the
industry
uses it seems, for announcements. Thats my take on this.
Remember when IBM was quiet about everything until the last bit of
documentation
was ready, and then they made an announcement with fanfare, and nearly
immediate
product availability? I don't think we'll see much of that any more. I've
had the same
experience on queries on several IBM products now, where different pieces
of the IBM
organization just didn't know what the others knew. Worse still, some of these
projected availability dates have slipped; an i series machine that a user
of mine is
waiting for slipped back a week and I still don't know when she'll get her
unit.
