The new screen (15" 1400x1050) has a horizontal and vertical dpi of 116.
For comparison:
A TP 600 with a 13.3" 1024x768 is 96 dpi (bigger pixels)
A TP 770 with a 14.1 1024x768 is 91 dpi (even bigger)
The 13.7 1280x1024 on the 770Z is 120 dpi (even smaller than the new
machine.)
My SGI 17.3" flat panel (1600x1024) is 110 dpi.
In my opinion, the 770Z screen is a gorgeous screen, but slightly too small
even with large fonts and created some eye fatigue.
The SGI is perfect. I'm still up in the air on how the new 1400x1050 screen
will look, so I'm waiting until someone else gets one before taking the
plunge.

Hi David!
You haven't turned your 600 into a FrankenPad? "3 times bigger drive, more
memory, DVD, Win2k and so on" are all add-ons. Toshiba 18Gb drives (nicer
than IBM) are $357 at sparco.com.
But the new screen--that's something else. A lot more pixels, but tiny ones.
They are Libretto-size pixels--the same size you get on a 6.9" 640x480 or
11" 1024x768 display. Most fonts you can adjust easily, but those dang
Windows MS Sans Serif 8 or Tahoma 8 dialog fonts are going to be kind of
small. (Hmm... Tahoma... Does that mean the dialog font is scalable in
Win2K?)
In any case, the new screen should be very nice!
