Greetings all --
A little while back I posted asking how much battery life one should get with the 600E because I had a brand new laptops and was only getting 11/2 hr max.
After recycling the battery numerous times and not getting better results I decided to call EZserve and they send me a new battery - but in the process I became all confused as to what is the correct battery FRU number for my model 2645 5AU.
The battery that came with the laptop is the 10L2158 but a spec search on the IBM web site says this number is for the 600X models.
The specs for 2845 5AU model indicate that the battery is FRU 02K 6506
Then again - under IBM Options they say the battery for my model is 12J2464
Now they are sending me the FRU 02K 6505 -- which is fine.
My question is:
Are the batteries for the 600E series the same (or compatible with) as the 600x.
The reason for the last question is that I have a few friend that bought the same model 600E as myself and they also got the 10L2158 batteries . Now these were IBM factory sealed boxes and because it happened numerous times I can't believe IBM made a supposed mistake over and over again -- or did they? Or -- perhaps Bill Morrow might know specifically-- is the 10L2158 battery designed for the 600x OK for 600E.
Please excuse this lenghty query -- but you do understand I wouldn't want the wrong battery in my laptop for the potential damage this might cause in the long run -- perhaps not major but annoying and it is always the small annoying issues that often prove to be the most problematic.
TIA
