If it ONLY happens while you're on-line, then I'd question the remote
system and if your modem is retraining or the server is busy servicing
other callers. If this is happening while on-line via a LAN, then this
idea isn't very useful.
One other standard test when a system seems to be "locked-up" is to press
<CAPS LOCK> or <NUM LOCK> (depending on the system and your keyboard) to
see if any indicator lights are changing. If the caps lock light is
turning on/off, then the problem isn't your keyboard but rather the
remote system or the communications between your system and the server.
Also, be patient. Give the system 2-3 minutes to recover and see if that
makes any difference. If things resume as normal, then the problem is
probably intermittent AND transient. If the problem doesn't go away, then
the source of the problem is most likely someplace other than where I've
suggested.
