Despite my early problems with the T20, my experience with the computer is
much better with time.

I now have everything I want working, with a couple of exceptions. My
Logitech USB mouse will not work if plugged in before boot. A quick unplug
and plug after boot and it works fine. Still no IR Hotsync with the Palm
III, not sure if this is a 3com or IBM issue.

Compact flash cards are now easily read with either the USB Imagemate or
PCMCIA adapter. Previously I could not map a drive letter to the card,
suddenly it works every time.

Adaptec 1480 SCSI card works great with a Yamaha CDRW and Fujitsu MO
drive hooked up. I can burn CDs in the background with no apparent
slowdown to the system. CDR performance is great from the HD or built in
DVD, DAE on the DVD is flawless so far.

Still evaluating DVD playback performance. Most DVDs play back smoothly,
some are jerky. It might be a battery/AC issue, will have to try it a few
more times to be certain.

The suspend feature is now working great. Now the machine wakes up when I
want it to (I had earlier problems with the screen not comming back).
Sometimes I can stay logged into an NT domain, sometimes I must reboot -
log out does not work. TCP/IP appears to work fine after a suspend.

Screen blanking is still a bit odd, it kills the sound and will not stay
blank (keeps popping back up).

Video performance is wonderful :) I can hook into an external 21" and run
the desktop across both screens. 1280x1024, 16 bit color, 85 Hz on the
external is rock solid.

Photoshop 5.0 is quite snappy, as long as file size is kept reasonable.
128M is OK for now, but I really hate to use the swap file if I don't have
to. Crucial memory upgrade to follow.

So all in all I am quite happy with the new machine. Yes a few quirks, but
in general a fine computer.
