I've found that one good way to gauge "real" battery life, at least on
my 560x, is to play MP3s nonstop. With 200-300 songs, the battery will
run out long before the playlist does. When I first got my 560x I got
1:45 (with all power saving disabled) every single time. I'm sure the
battery life has decreased since then, but haven't bothered to measure
it. It does last quite a bit longer at 1/2 speed though - never measured
it, but over 3 hours.
So I have a worst case scenario, and basically work on that, but use the
power saving features to "borrow" working time.
