Hello.
I like the panasonic drives that are both PCMCIA and SCSI at the same time.
The early ones with the speakers and sound card are a problem with current
laptops in as much as the 2 sound cards conflict.
The work-around is to find the interface card that has no sound card, this
also
gives you some better sounding amplified speakers on the CD drive that can
be connected to the laptop.
The really good part is, if you really do not need a fast drive, the 4X
models can
be had on the cheap.
This is the personal viewpoint of a confessed "el cheapo".
