Have you tried booting from a bootable floppy disk? It might be that your
boot record on your hard drive is corrupt. Booting from a floppy would help
you determine that.

Subject: [TP570] Won't boot; displays "LI" on screen

I have a Thinkpad 570 that just stopped working.

Upon boot, the Thinkpad screen displays, the RAM available displays, no
error shows up, single beep. The screen clears, and, instead of the OS
loading, after an amount of time anywhere from 1/2 a second to 15 seconds, a
"LI" (without quotes) displays at the top of the screen, and the machine
does not go any further.

I tried resetting the BIOS info, to no avail. I held down F8, but that
affected nothing.

Any ideas?
