The machine will boot to the active primary partition on the hard disk, ie C:.

Nope. There is some info out there somewhere about what it means when LILO
stops; it apparently means something different depending on which letter it
stops on. I did a cursory Google search on this before I responded the first
time but I couldn't find the info.
