Those of you experimenting might want to try "Goo Gone" to see if it will
remove the rubber coating on some machines. It is citrus based and *should
not* hurt the plastic. Also, you might try a vinyl dye as opposed to the
enamel finishes. Vinyl dye, from an autobody finish supplier can be mixed
as small as a pint and in virtually any color. It will permeate the plastic
and not scratch off. I have used it to change the color of automotive
dashes, consoles and of course, vinyl roofs.
