Don't know if your's is still under warranty, but if it is and you send
it back, they always repair the cases. The last one I sent had a smudge
where a "sticker" was removed and they replaced it, unasked, while
fixing a real problem. IBM service is really wonderful. I once sent
them a 701 which had been filled with most of a 16 ounce bottle of diet
coke. They took two days and called me to ask if the disk should be
reformatted since hibernation didn't work with os2 hpfs. First they
replaced the mother board, the power supply, the screen and the
connectors, and the keyboard. Nothing by way of a bill save "thanks for
calling IBM".
