I don't doubt this at all. First, IBM, just like other companies who make
complex equipment, make changes to things and the maxtrix of products
gets awfully complicated. My experience with IBM products only goes
back to 1981 and the first PC, but friends who've dealt with the older big
iron have told me stories of little "changes" to things that aren't always
clearly documented--something that might be so in one model of a product
might be a little different in another. Is it so hard to believe that a PC
can't
have those characteristics?

Secondly, I have two 760's in the pool of machines I work on and once had
both of them to work on at once, and one of them felt a little faster than the
other. I suspected at the time that there was a cache difference between
the two, but didn't really have the time or interest to delve into it. It did
make enough of a impression on me to have remembered it, however.

Lastly, folks like Denis don't make rash statements. From what I've seen him
state here, he's been a straight shooter. So he has said something that
wasn't common knowledge--given his past, I'd say that's more a reason to
look up more about the subject than say it's a fantasy. Seems like some of
the url's say this same thing, don't they....

I learn new things all the time. Looks like I did that again today.
